Zilch is a computer chess engine and the predecessor to Vapor, the engine I am currently developing. Zilch was my first stable
chess engine. It was preceded by some prototypes I called Knightmare,
but they were only experimental and
very unstable. It was written from scratch and not based on Knightmare
in any significant way. While I intended to release it eventually, it
turned out to be vaporware -- which inspired the name of my new engine,
Vapor -- primarily because it made use of a small amount of code that
wasn't my own. It ran on my 64-bit Linux
box and used the xboard protocol. Copyright © 2010 by Michael Leany |
